Gràs is Coming
Updated: Jan 4
Happy New Year everyone! 2019 certainly had it's ups and downs but Electra and I were given a gift of something that we had major doubts would ever happen. Our family is expanding and we are over the moon. We are anxious, scared and excited all at the same time.
We want to extend our apologies to everyone; we made a choice to not announce this before now. We appreciate that social media is the easiest place to share news, but with everything that Electra and I have been through over the last 2 years individually and together we wanted to focus on ourselves and each other and minimise the white noise that sometimes the overuse of social media can result in.
This will also explain our efforts to improve our job situations, as we know it will take a lot of time, money and effort to make for our baby a life. Not that Electra and I have not been trying before now.
Electra is loving life at the Tron Theatre in Glasgow, working with clients, creating new processes and systems for contracting including a new digital contracts procedure bringing some of the usual mundane contact admin in to the modern era. She has worked as part of a team that has doubled its annual creative program in the last 12 months and welcomed almost doubled the amount of private hires to the venue. The list is endless but a few of my favourites were Pride and Prejudice (Sort Of), Motherfucker in Hat, Ballyturk, The Taming of the Shrew, Dressed, Low Pay? Don't Pay! Electrolyte, The Ugly One, The Alchemist the team even made it on to BBC's Flour Power and of course the week stand-up show Rachel (Jackson) & Friends.
I have been working as hard and as often as I can as digital marketing consultant, rebranded my consultancy as Artos Digital and made 2019 my busiest year for acting projects. I was blessed to work on the likes of Outlander Season 5, Belgravia, Succession - Season 2, The Nest and a feature film directed by Michael Caton-Jones - Our Ladies. I also tried like a bear to get myself cast on Season 2 of A Discovery of Witches as Gallowglass De Clermont. Towards the latter end of the year I was offered an opportunity to enter the financial services sector and I took it.
My Mum has already cleared one of her own rooms to prep decorating a nursery, my Dad has bought us the buggy/pram/car seat system. My Brother is super excited to become Uncle Mark, as is future Auntie Joanne! Seán is looking forward to being Godfather and Charlene will be keeping him in check and off the ceiling with his excitement. Seán and Charlene got us a nappy cake, so we are more than ready to get off to a good start. Zoi in Thessaloniki is also bursting to become Godmother.
παππούς Nick will be paying us a visit from Greece later this month and γιαγιά Maria will be visiting us also not long after Nick heads home and if its an early birth, she might be able to see the little one as she arrives. Oh yes, we are having a little girl. We have chosen the name Grace. Inspired by grace (eloquence or beauty of form, kindness, mercy, favour), which is derived from the Latin gratia (favour, thanks). The name was made popular by 17th-century Puritans, who bestowed it in reference to God's favour and love toward mankind. We haven't decided yet on which spelling to go with Grace or Gràs (Scots Gaelic). What do you think?
For the tiny amount of you that we shared our news with, thank you for keeping our news private. We look forward to bringing our wee baby girl home and showering her with love.
Please also keep a prayer, a thought and or a wish for Electra and our baby. I want them both to come home in February healthy and happy.
All the best to everyone this year, let's make it a fantastic one!
